A little bit about us

Hi everyone, here is a little bit about us, our story and our vision for the future. We are Janet  Paul, we both took early retirement in late 2024 and moved  here from England permanently early in 2025 following seven years  of coming here for month long vacations. Janet was a Detective Constable and I was a Merchant Navy Captain and an  abnormal load specialist, but our real passions were nature. wildlife and animal rescue so when we visit Costa Rica for the first time together back in 2018 we fell in love with the country and its wonderful people. Over the last eight years we have travelled to every corner of this stunning country, meeting new people, making friends and learning as much as we can about the country's history, culture and its wildlife.

We have started Quepos Helping Hands for several reasons, we noticed that there is lack of affordable and reliable transport options for both tourists, locals, and especially those traveling with their much loved pets. There is also a lack of businesses offering pet care, dog walking, pet sitting and emergency transport for pets when they need to be taken to the many vets in the area. But the main reason for offering the variety of services that we do, is to raise money for the various animal and wildlife rescue organisations in Quepos area, such as the project run by a local lady who spends her time traveling around the area feeding the many many street dogs that would otherwise go hungry. We try to keep our prices affordable and any profits we make go directly to helping the animals.
